Road Trip Week 5: Activity: Stop Motion Movies and Flipbooks

As part of this week's portion of our road trip, we're traveling through California - which means we'll be passing through Hollywood! As a special activity, try making your own stop motion movie. You can use toys, dolls, Legos, clay figures, etc. Try drawing some special backgrounds for your movie, too!

Alaina's nephew Silas made a stop motion movie using Legos and the app Stop Motion Studio (the app is free to use but there are additional features within the app you can purchase). Check out the movie Silas made!

As an alternative to making a stop motion movie, you can make your own animated scene by making a flipbook. All you need is something to draw with and a thick stack of small pieces of paper. You can cut larger pieces of paper into smaller pieces or use something like index cards or sticky notes.

If you make a stop motion movie or a flipbook, we'd love to see it! Be sure to share your creations with us on Facebook!
