Chapter 2
The Beastly Bog
You arrive in the Beastly Bog in search of the second piece of the
blade. There, you meet Beatrix of the Bog, a cloaked
person surrounded by.... are those mushroom creatures?

“My mushroom friends and I have been witness to the many
adventurers searching for the missing blade piece,” she tells you.
“No one has ever been able to retrieve the mythical piece
deep in the bog depths, for the swamp swallows them whole.
But I sense you are true of heart, and for that we will help you.”
Beatrix explains that if you help her gather the necessary ingredients, she can cast a spell to bring the fragment to the surface. “The ingredients are verrrrrrrry specific!” she warns. “You must take great care to not make any errors when collecting items for the potion. One wrong element and the whole thing goes POOF!”
She hands you a strange leather-bound book, yellowed with age. “Inside my beloved Compendium, you will find a guide to single out the true ingredients to my potion,” she explains. “Follow my instructions EXACTLY. Good luck, adventurer...”

If you're playing along at home, complete the activity below before moving on with the story.
You hand over your bundle of potion ingredients, and Beatrix gets to work while you chat with the mushroom creatures. Colorful smoke rises up from her bubbling cauldron, and after what seems like hours, she is done. She walks over to the edge of the bog and pours in the shimmering potion. Faster than you thought possible, the missing piece of the blade shoots out of the murky depths and lands right at your feet.
“The piece is yours,” Beatrix says. “Before you resume your journey, take one of my mushroom friends with you! They make for delightful company.”

You now have a mushroom friend joining you on your adventure. Visit the library to pick up a sticker of your mushroom companion to add to your Adventure Log. Don't forget to give your new friend a name!

the next region of Berwickia: The Jammin' Jungle.
